We just received a wonderful note from Amie Desautels who is using our Online Writing Classroom at Lamoille Union Middle School. Amie signed up for our Digital Learning class that is being accredited through St. Michael's College. This is a practicum -- We build a site for the teachers, provide basic training and then have the teachers, during the year, make use of the site with blogging, commenting, podcasting and digital storytelling. We provide support online, through email and through occasional visits to the classroom.
Amie's experience was so exciting to her colleagues at the school, we've brought them into the site as well and they are now all getting up to speed.
Amie sent us a letter of feedback. Here's a small excerpt of what she said:
"The Young Writer’s Project online writing site has become an integral part of my classroom. It has inspired students, who have never been excited about writing, to see writing as something cool and fun. It has provided students with an opportunity to post, comment on, and share their work in a new way with their peers. Additionally, it has, for the first time in six years, provided students a way to learn the importance of being specific while giving comments. Now, students are providing effective and constructive comments on one another’s writing.
"The first few days after I showed my students this site, there were more posts online than I could possibly read. They were asking for feedback on writing that was not required and they were giving one another positive support in a safe setting. This excitement has not waned among my students. Each time we do a new activity on this website I hear comments like, 'That’s so cool,' and 'This is awesome.'"

Thanks for taking the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful and beneficial to your readers.
